Gusarica is the public beach of Komiža. It was named after the church of Our Lady of Pirate which was built on the beach on the west side of Komiža (16th to 18th century. According to the legend it was robbed by pirates who stole the portrait of “Our Lady”. Shortly after they ransacked the church their boat was destroyed in a big storm, and the waves brought the portrait back to the beach in front of the church. It was found by women from Komiža who washed their clothes on the well in front of the church. This Renaissance three-part church holds lots of historical information: the oldest organ in Dalmatia from the year 1670 are found there, and there is a well of water under the main altar in the church.
On this beach you have everything you need: access for people with disabilities, changing rooms, toilets, a cafe and restaurant, mini golf, showers, diving center manta, Hotel Biševo that offers different kinds of wellness programmes, and the mass int he church for those looking for the spiritual .The beach is only 5 minutes from the town center.
