Fort George III.

Our first stop on the tour is the cornerstone of the British fortification system - fort George III., built in 1813. Here we'll talk about British plans for the island, lasting legacy they left behind, as well as the Battle of Lissa in 1866 in which the British forts proved their worth

Parja bay

Our next stop is the so-called "submarine tunnel" in the Parja bay. It was built in the 1980's as a new and more efficient method of defense, and here we'll explain the importance of Vis as a naval base for the Yugoslav Navy.

Nova Pošta

Next we'll see the defensive emplacements that protected the northern entrance to Vis harbor - four artillery batteries that were part of the defensive grid of the Adriatic. We'll also share with you some of the anecdotes from the former soldiers that were stationed there, to give you a glimpse in their everyday life

Mt. Hum

We'll take a break from the gloomy tunnels by visiting the highest point of the island, where we'll enjoy in a stunning view of the town of Komiža and most of the surrounding islands.

Allied airfield

On our return back to Vis town we'll stop at the sightseeing point Križ, where we'll have an excellent view of Plisko polje and the former Allied airfield and we'll talk about Alllied soldiers that were stationed here and their experiences.

Wine & Food tasting

Our last stop on the tour is one of the most unique wineries you'll ever see: a former military tunnel which maintains constant temperature and humidity levels throughout the year - perfect for creating exquisite vintages. The ambiance makes for the perfect end of the tour, and the wine tasting and sampling of the local finger food guarantees that you'll leave in great mood!
