Although Vis is a small island, its wine stands head and shoulders above many others.  Since days of antiquity, vineyards and wine growing has been the main economic force for the island’s development. Vugava and Mali Plavac are the island’s best known wines.  The wine fields are also rich with other acclaimed sorts like Kurteloška, Rukatac, Palaruša…

We made a tour where you can explore and compare the wines in two different wine cellars. Also this is opportunity to drive into the heart of the island and meet the local households and be introduce to the production of the wine you taste.

Town of Vis

Meeting point is at Paiz office, located in the ferry port in Vis. If we agree differently we can come and pick you up on suggested place.  On our way to the the vineyards of the northeastern parts of Vis, we’ll make a stop above Kut to enjoy the panorama of Vis bay. Guide will than start a story about old Issa - Greek colony, about their vineyards and olive groves changed history of our island Vis forever.

First wine tasting – Plisko polje

Local household, situated in Plisko polje, is a rustic place near former allied airfield. Tradition of wine making is strong run family business, today they combined it with the high standard of the modern very new vinery. Also all their wines are certified organic wines. The guests will taste 4 varieties of local wines Rukatac, Vugava, Rose and  Plavac mali.

Mt. Hum sightseeing

No sightseeing tour is complete without visiting the highest point of the island - Mt. Hum. The beautiful sights of Komiža and the surrounding islands offer a great photo opportunity!

Second wine tasting – winery in ex military tunnel

Experience the most unique winery you’ll ever see – former military tunnel converted to wine cellar! In a place rich with history you’ll taste rosé Opol, white Vugava and red Plavac mali. You'll also have some finger food with the wine (marinated anchovies, fish paté, cheese and olives).

After the second wine tasting we return to Vis town. After enjoying all those wines you're sure to be in a good mood!
