Reveal the military secrets of the island

Explore with us the best kept secret of Vis island – cold war military facilities and tunnels. Because of them, Vis was inaccessible for foreign tourists throughout the 20th century, but now they stand as a testament of a cold war mentality and offer the unique opportunity for a day trip. Since most of the objects are off the beaten path, we’ll visit them in our jeep Nissan Patrol.

The price includes: local guide and transport

If the group is interested to finish the tour with wine tasting in local winery we’ll organize it with pleasure.

The excursion is not recommended for children under 6 . Since the tour includes hiking and tunneling, it’s not recommended for people with impaired movement.

Min. number of persons: 2 pax

Max. 6 people on the tour can fit in one jeep.

For bigger groups please send inquire for the quote.

Tunnel Lobster and banker Nova Pošta

Tunnel “Lobster” is built in the 80's as a new and more efficient method of defense.  Next we'll see the defensive emplacements that protected the northern entrance to Vis harbor – four artillery batteries that were part of the defensive grid of the Adriatic. We'll also share with you some anecdotes told by former soldiers that were stationed here, to give you a glimpse in their everyday life.
4

ARK Vela Glava

Now we'll take a path less traveled, using the old military roads to reach ARK Vela Glava – nuclear shelter in the middle of the island. Here we'll have an unique experience of discovering one of the best kept secrets of the Cold War.
5

Mt. Hum

We'll take the break from gloomy tunnels by visiting the highest point of the island, where we'll enjoy in a stunning views of Komiža town, Biševo island, Svetac and Jabuka islet. Sometimes when is a good weather you can see an Italy from the top.
